JOHANNESBURG - Gautrain said its bus service was still not operating at full capacity.

A labour dispute has resulted in reduced services, forcing commuters to look for alternative transport.

Gautrain spokesperson Kesagee Nayager said that some employees who decided to stop working had been issued with dismissal notices.

"Management is in discussion with the South African Municipal Workers Union in this regard. The work stoppage and dismissal of workers has unfortunately impacted the Gautrain bus service."

She denied claims that the bus service was stopped due to expired licence disks.

"I can confirm that all Gautrain buses are fully registered and have valid licences as well as certificates of roadworthiness. Not all buses have valid operating licences, and we have been in discussions with the Department of Roads and Transport to expedite the issue and solve these operating licences."
