JOHANNESBURG - President Cyril Ramaphosa has slammed right-wing groups, AfriForum and Solidarity over a visit to the United States in which they aired their grievances over the Expropriation Act.
In a memorandum, they falsely stated, among others, that Afrikaners were the target of farm murders and called for pressure to be placed on South Africa to revise the Expropriation and BELA Acts.

While the president has stood firm and consistently defended the country’s redress policies and laws, he also called for interest groups to stop running to other nations over local disputes.
The trip to the US took place despite this and has led to growing calls for action to be taken against the groups.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Basic Education Lekgotla in Boksburg, Ramaphosa has lashed out at the groups, accusing them of sowing divisions in the country.
"There are people saying that something needs to be done to them… I would say that we need to be sending a clear message to them. What they are doing has spawned divisions in our nation and that is not a nation-building process of running around the world to try and have your problems solved. You are just sowing divisions."
