JOHANNESBURG - Ekurhuleni council speaker Nthabiseng Tshivhenga will live to see another day as the motion of no confidence against her has been withdrawn.
The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) sponsored motion was meant to be tabled in council on Thursday afternoon, but it was withdrawn moments before it was heard.
This is the second time Tshivhenga survived a motion of no confidence.
Last week, the IFP submitted a request to have Economic Freedom Fighter (EFF) councillor Tshivhenga removed in which it detailed scathing reasons behind its lack of confidence in her.

It claimed Tshivhenga has failed to maintain decorum during sittings, blaming her for physical scuffles that broke out in council.
While the IFP has now withdrawn its motion, Tshivhenga said she's glad to continue leading the legislative arm of the city.
"We must always find a way to find each other. So it's an opportunity for us to reach out to the IFP to discuss what the issues are."
Opposition parties have expressed frustration over the IFP's sudden withdrawal of the motion.
