JOHANNESBURG - Former Johannesburg mayor, Kabelo Gwamanda, is considering suing the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) for loss of income after his fraud charges were dropped.
Gwamanda said the charges led to him losing his job as mayor and as the MMC for community development.

On Tuesday, Gwamanda and his co-accused, Mduduzi Zondo, appeared in the Protea Magistrates Court where their charges were provisionally withdrawn.
They had been facing multiple counts of fraud for allegedly swindling Soweto residents through a funeral policy scam they ran between 2011 and 2012.
Gwamanda said he would be holding accountable elected officials from the Johannesburg municipality who pushed him out of the two jobs based on these charges.
"And to ensure the decisions they take not only serve them, but they serve the benefit of the structure of the government of the day, and also the structure of those that would have voted for every political party that is there. So, I don't know, maybe the Speaker owes a lifetime of a salary, but we will get a determination after the court processes."
