JOHANNESBURG - At least 60 salaries from Gauteng's Health Department have been frozen after employees failed to come forward for verification process.
Last year the department launched the programme Ziveze translated as “show yourself” in a bid to eliminate payroll fraud.
Employees were urged to visit the department's human resources office to verify that they were indeed actively working within the department.
The information would then be checked against records captured on the department’s system to determine a match.
Provincial health spokesperson Motalatale Modiba has warned staff members that failure to get verified will have undesirable consequences.
"Those who continue to avoid the verification process risk permanent removal from the payroll including criminal cases being opened against them. Someone has been willing to receive a salary that is not due to them and does not come forth to ensure that they stop receiving that particular amount."
