JOHANNESBURG - Load shedding has been suspended after almost a week of Eskom's scheduled power cuts.
The utility said it had successfully recovered generation capacity on affected units.
South Africans were plunged into load shedding over the weekend, going as high as stage six without warning.
Eskom spokesperson, Daphne Mokoena, said that there would be an update on Friday on the state of the national grid.
"Ongoing planned maintenance stands at 6,660MW in alignment with our summer period maintenance strategy, which is at increased levels in order to prepare for winter and meet licence and regulatory requirements."
