At least 5 people missing in Durban after another night of rain & flooding
Officials said that hundreds of people had to be evacuated in various parts of KwaZulu-Natal overnight.

JOHANNESBURG - At least five people are missing in the Durban area after another night of rain and flooding.
Emergency services are searching for two men and three children who are believed to have been swept away into a canal in Lamontville overnight.
ALS Paramedics spokesperson, Garrith Jamieson, said they had been conducting the search since the early hours of Wednesday morning.
"Paramedics are on scene together with eThekwini Fire Department and search and rescue from metro police. However, challenges that they are facing are these multiple live electricity wires they are coming across, so it's a tedious exercise. Obviously, rescuers have to be very cautious further updates to follow."
Meanwhile, provincial officials said that hundreds of people had to be evacuated in various parts of KwaZulu-Natal overnight.
The provincial government said that the Ugu district and Ray Nkonyeni Municipality were the most affected.
Cooperative governance department spokesperson, Senzelwe Mzila, said that no fatalities had been reported.
"Authorities have received numerous calls from residents affected by rising flood waters. Several roads have been flooded, making them impassable. The MEC of COGTA in the KZN Reverend Thulasizwe Buthelezi has assured residents that disaster management are working around the clock to ensure that residents are provided with the necessary help."
