JOHANNESBURG - AfriForum is continuing with its misinformation campaign in the United States (US) despite its recent outcry following Donald Trump’s executive orders against South Africa.
The minority interests lobby group met with senior representatives of Trump’s administration on Tuesday, saying this was part of its fight for the interests of Afrikaners.
Trump has offered to re-house white Afrikaaners as refugees in his country, on the back of lies AfriForum has been peddling about land expropriation.
The Afrikaner interests lobby group, despite crying wolf after being exposed globally in a lie about a so-called genocide in South Africa is doubling down.
In a visit to the White House, it asked for intensified pressure against African National Congress (ANC) leaders, to help secure cultural space for Afrikaners in this country and to act strongly against hate speech, which it said incites violence such as farm murders where Afrikaners are a target.
This is despite statistics that prove otherwise. Just last week, the police revealed that only one farmer was killed in the third quarter of the 2024/25 financial year.
In further undermining South Africa’s sovereignty, it asked the Americans to weigh in on the Basic Education Laws Amendment (BELA) Act and to revisit the Expropriation Act.
AfriForum also wants Americans to assist Afrikaners who chose not to take up an offer to become refugees in the US.
It said another meeting was scheduled in the coming days.
