Nkabane on Tuesday conducted oversight visits to various universities in Cape Town.
She stopped at the CPUT District Six campus earlier.
Minister Nobuhle Nkabane said she is not happy with the situation at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology’s District Six campus.
She said she found students sleeping in the students’ centre with no access to showers.
After meeting with CPUT Vice Chancellor Prof. Chris Nhlapo, she offered to help with a temporary solution.
“I had an engagement with the VC this morning, the VC told me that as much as they are pushing to allocate beds, but it is a bit slow, they are left with about 80 students for them to conclude the allocation of student accommodation.”
Nkabane has given the CPUT one week to resolve the accommodation issue.
