JOHANNESBURG - The Gauteng government said that municipal law enforcement agencies would now work across the province.
This means that the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) will be allowed to conduct law enforcement operations in Tshwane and vice versa.
Premier Panyaza Lesufi announced this new plan during the State of the Province Address (SOPA) on Monday.
"This decision means if there is a major crime in the West Rand, we will take law enforcement agency of the municipalities of Tshwane, Midvaal, and Ekurhuleni and take them to West Rand where crime is and flush criminals out without worrying about the boundaries of municipalities."
