JOHANNESBURG - The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party said Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla would not receive special treatment during her disciplinary process because of her relation to the organisation's leader.
The party has charged Jacob Zuma's daughter for ill-discipline following her insults towards the organisation's secretary general, Floyd Shivambu.
The MK Party’s deputy secretary-general, Nombuso Mkhize, said the decision to charge Zuma-Sambudla was also supported by her father.
"The [MK Party] constitution is clear that any member, and that includes everyone who is a member of the uMkhonto weSizwe, should you behave out of the stipulations of the constitution, you must be subjected to disciplinary processes."
Mkhize said that while complaints against members were handled at the secretary-general's office, Shivambu would be recused from this case to avoid a conflict of interest.
"The constitution is clear that the report on misconduct must be submitted not to the secretary-general but to the secretary-general’s office. I resort in that office as DSG, so there is no conflict of interest."
