Mbalula set to name ANC members who'll assist in rebuilding its KZN structures

JOHANNESBURG - After months of talking about reconfiguring its executives in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal, the African National Congress (ANC)'s secretary-general will on Tuesday unveil those handpicked to help resuscitate the party in KZN.
Fikile Mbalula will brief the media around noon at the ANC's provincial headquarters.
The advent of former President Jacob Zuma's uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party has battered the ANC in KZN, with several national leaders pushing for urgent intervention ahead of the 2026 local government polls.

A whooping fall from grace, with little to no prospects of recovery – this is the image some senior ANC leaders see when they look at the KZN PEC.
The party, in a bid to rejig the leadership of the province, has taken its time, even facing resistance from within but it pushed on, informing both KZN and Gauteng that this process would be finalised this week.
Insiders have claimed that Sboniso Duma will remain influential while his secretary, Bheki Mtolo, is expected to just be an ordinary member of the task team.
Veterans Jeff Radebe and Mike Mabuyakhulu's names have been tipped as some of those who will assist in rebuilding KZN's structures.
Mbalula is expected to address the media on this development on Tuesday afternoon.
