Gauteng govt to invest R120bn into Gautrain expansion

JOHANNESBURG - The Gauteng government said it would invest R120 billion into Gautrain to expand it to other parts of the province.
An 80-kilometre rail network for the high-speed train currently has ten stations, and for many years there have been commitments made by the provincial government to expand them.
During the State of the Province Address (SOPA) on Monday, Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi said the expansion of Gautrain would help in creating much-needed jobs.
"The Gauteng government will invest R120 billion in the expansion of Gautrain to the following new areas: Soweto via Fourways, Mamelodi, Atteridgeville, Lanseria, and Springs."
