CAPE TOWN - Cape Town law enforcement officers have arrested three suspects for theft after they pretended to be city officials to gain access to properties in Woodstock and Walmer Estate.
City Mayco member for safety and security, JP Smith, said that over the weekend, the suspects gained access to a property in Camps Bay with fake credentials before stealing a laptop, cellphone and a wallet.
Smith said the suspects were later caught trying the same scam in Walmer Estate and further investigation showed they were linked to similar incidents in Kuils River and Manenberg.
"The week-on-week enforcement patrols and the successful arrests show that our officers are reacting swiftly and following up on information received from the community. The past week saw 365 arrests, including that of three suspects who pretended to be city officials to gain access to properties."
