JOHANNESBURG - The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party is demanding the man arrested in connection with the Zanzou torture case be denied bail.
The 41-year-old Congolese national made his first appearance in the Pretoria Magistrates Court on Monday, following his arrest last week.
He is accused of physically and sexually assaulting patrons at the Zanzou nightclub in Hatfield, east of Pretoria.
Speaking outside the court on Monday, MK Party Tshwane spokesperson Abel Tau said the suspect doesn’t deserve to step foot outside of his jail cell.
“It’s become apparent to us that one of the things that would have to happen is that we need to be physically here and monitor the progress around this case and today [Monday] we are here to do exactly that. One of the suspects will be appearing before the magistrate and we believe there should be concomitant arrests.”
