Eskom reduces load shedding to stage 4 until further notice
The country was hit with stage 6 on Sunday morning following the failure of multiple units at some of Eskom's power stations.
JOHANNESBURG - Eskom has downgraded load shedding to stage 4 until further notice.
This follows the recovery of units at three power stations.
The country was hit with stage 6 on Sunday after the utility implemented scheduled power cuts on Saturday.
Eskom said multiple units failed at some of its power stations following months of reliable power supply.
Electricity Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa said Eskom was expected to restore uninterrupted electricity supply this week.
“By the end of the week, there will not be a load shedding, we’d have gone through this wave and of course we want the country to get accustomed to being normal and in fact, something called load shedding should be considered extremely abnormal. And that’s why we’re taking these extraordinary measures to share with you.”
