EFF Tshwane march to human settlements housing project in Pienaarspoort

JOHANNESBURG – The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in Tshwane is marching to a human settlements housing project in Pienaarspoort to stop the placement of residents into formal houses.

But the party is accusing some of the metro’s officials of selling the houses meant to accommodate the disadvantaged and underprivileged.
For residents in Phomolong informal settlements in Mamelodi, the relocation process into formal housing began in December.
On Monday, more residents from other places are meant to move into 5,000 households.
However, with the allegations of corruption, the EFF said it wants to monitor the relocation process.
“EFF subregion 5 demands accountability from Tshwane Department of Human Settlements,” said Tshwane EFF leader Bongani Ramontja.
“No one will be allowed to enter the relocation site in Pienaarspoort ext 15 if they are not the rightful beneficiaries.”
Ramontja said the party wants to expose the alleged corruption behind government housing projects.
