This is part of the former liberation movement's bid to renew and strengthen the organisation.
In January, the party's national executive committee (NEC) – the highest decision-making body in between conferences – resolved to make changes to the PECs of the two provinces, which performed dismally in the 2024 general elections.
Reconfiguring the PECs is expected to include the appointment of several veterans in pursuit of rebuilding the party.
On Saturday, NWC members including Mamoloko Kubayi, Pemmy Majodina, Mdumseni Ntuli, and Thembi Nkadimeng met with structures in greater Johannesburg, Tshwane, eThekwini, Harry Gwala, and Moses Mabhida.
On Sunday, Ekurhuleni, Sedibeng, General Gizenga, Mzala Nxumalo, and Musa Dladla are among those who will engage with their senior leaders.
The ANC is delivering its message on why it has opted to reconfigure both the Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal PECs.
Meanwhile, the names of those who will make up the different task teams are yet to be finalised, with the organisation’s top officials expected to endorse it this coming week.
However, it is understood that the provincial chairs – Panyaza Lesufi and Siboniso Duma – will return as co-conveners alongside two other veterans.
Jeff Radebe has been tipped to assist KwaZulu-Natal, while Amos Masondo is expected to hold Gauteng’s hand.
