JOHANNESBURG - The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has extended its operation hours to allow beneficiaries to update their grant payment cards.
In the last few weeks, many South Africans have been standing in long queues waiting to swap their SASSA gold card for a black Postbank card.
Postbank and SASSA said that they had been working to clear the backlog of the millions of grant recipients who still need new cards.
The agency’s spokesperson, Paseka Letsatsi, said they had measures in place that would address people’s concerns and frustrations
"To ensure that we give our beneficiaries seamless customer care experience, two SASSA employees will be assigned per site to assist with long queues. SASSA will also extend its operational hours, meaning the social grant payment system will be extended from 6am until 7pm during the week and weekends to allow capturing," said Letsatsi.
