DURBAN - KwaZulu-Natal residents have been warned to brace for more heavy rain this weekend.
The SA Weather Service has issued an alert level 2 warning for heavy rains and thunderstorms set to hit the province from Saturday.
This comes after the harsh weather claimed seven lives in the province.
Authorities have warned this weekend’s rain may also have a severe impact.
The SA Weather Service said that scattered showers and thunderstorms were expected in most parts of KZN but isolated in the northeast.
However, the southern and western parts of the province are expected to experience severe thunderstorms.
This will also lead to damaging winds, hail and severe lightning.
KZN Cooperative Governance spokesperson, Senzelwe Mzila: "Inclement weather conditions are expected to continue throughout the weekend, with heavy rains expected on Saturday. The MEC has appealed to communities to be cautious as the ground is saturated, increasing the risk of flooding in low-lying areas."
Disaster management teams have been placed on high alert.
