City of Johannesburg pledges to address water leaks and burst pipes

JOHANNESBURG - The City of Johannesburg has pledged to address water leaks and pipe bursts with urgency, as they significantly contribute to water shortages.
35% of the city’s water is lost to physical leakages, leading to a drastic reduction in levels at reservoirs.

Mayor Dada Morero held a media briefing on Friday, announcing that Johannesburg Water's systems have recovered after several days of dry taps.
Morero said the city's teams are on standby to tackle any potential leakages.
"Also remain committed to ensuring quick responses to bursts and leaks on any part of the system so that we minimise water losses. There are sporadic areas of the system that are disrupted due to operations and maintenance repairs."
