CAPE TOWN - Windy conditions and high temperatures continue to hamper firefighting efforts in Wellington.
Multiple fires broke out in the Cape Winelands earlier this week, with a blaze that started on Oaklands farm posing the most problems.
A house and two sheds were destroyed, while two cottages had to be evacuated.
The Cape Winelands District Municipality's Jo-Anne Otto said that the wind subsided during the night, making for improved firefighting conditions.
She said the fire, however, continues to burn out of control.
"The weather services predict a change in the wind direction, which, together with the high temperatures, is cause for concern, as this increases the likelihood of flare-ups."
