CAPE TOWN - Alleged underworld gang boss, Nafiz Modack, on Wednesday denied giving two of his co-accused an instruction to go ahead with a grenade attack on slain top cop, Charl Kinnear.

Modack has been testifying in his own defence since last week.

He, along with 14 co-accused, faces 122 charges related to running a criminal empire and the murder of Kinnear in 2020.

Nafiz Modack on Wednesday accused the former head of the Anti-Gang Unit (AGU), General Andre Lincoln, of lying under oath.

Lincoln, along with another AGU member, Captain Franklin Stone, previously testified that they heard Modack instruct co-accused, Amaal Jantjies, and her then-boyfriend, Yannick Adonis, to kill Kinnear.

It is the State's case that Modack promised to fund a bail application for Adonis, who was in jail for murder at the time if Jantjies could orchestrate a hit on Kinnear.

Modack on Wednesday denied giving the instruction.

"What do you say to the allegations against you?" Modack was asked.

"That's false, my lord. If it was true I'm sure they would have arrested me the same day, my lord," he replied.

Modack is set to continue with his testimony on Monday.
