CAPE TOWN - Firefighting efforts are continuing in Wellington on Thursday morning.
Multiple fires broke out in the Cape Winelands earlier this week, with a blaze that started on the Oaklands farm posing the most problems.
A house and two sheds were destroyed, while two cottages had to be evacuated.
Strong winds have been hampering efforts to douse the flames.
The Cape Winelands District Municipality's Jo-Anne Otto: "The firefighting crews, assisted by ground teams from NCC and CapeNature, had their hands full last night as they engaged in active firefighting on all the lines. The fire lines above Rooshoek and Oaklands farms caused a few problems in the night, however, teams were able to prevent damage to property. At Foxenberg, landowners assisted in creating fire breaks to prevent the fire from moving down onto farmland."
