CAPE TOWN - The case against two alleged gunmen charged with the murder of controversial Cape Town businessman Mark Lifman has been postponed for further investigation in George Magistrate's Court.

Lifman was shot and killed in the parking lot of Garden Route mall in George in November last year.

At the time, Lifman was on trial along with alleged underworld figures Jerome "Donkie" Booysen and Andre Naude for the murder of "steroid king" Brian Wainstein.

Johan Hendrik Jacobs and Gert Bezuidenhout made a brief appearance in the George Magistrate's Court on Thursday today for the murder of alleged underworld figure, Lifman.

When the accused last appeared, the court ruled it would not be in the interest of justice to release them on bail.

The National Prosecuting Authority said it has a strong case to prove Jacobs and Bezuidenhout murdered Lifman.

State prosecutors told the court they need more time to obtain ballistic reports and cellphone analysis before taking the matter to trial.

The case will be in court again on 15 April.
