JOHANNESBURG - There seems to be no end in sight for African National Congress (ANC) reconfiguration talks, as the party's secretariat delivers opposing messages to KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng's provincial executives.

EWN has since learnt from provincial executive committee (PEC) members in both Gauteng and in KwaZulu-Natal that the party's two deputy secretary-generals (DSGs) delivered contradictory messages on the way forward.

This followed deliberations by the national working committee (NWC) on Monday on how the leadership of both provinces should be altered.

KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng performed dismally in the 2024 general elections.

The much-anticipated messages from the ANC’s secretariat to pave a way forward for both Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal have left many feeling confused.

Instead of confirming names proposed to take over the leadership, PECs were told the officials must endorse the final list.

EWN understands that while Gauteng was told by the second DSG, Maropene Ramokgopa, that its PEC has been disbanded, KwaZulu-Natal, in a short meeting with the first DSG, Nomvula Mokonyane, was told to continue with its tasks.

The two provinces will now have to wait at least until next week to see if indeed the proposed changes to their executives will be made.

EWN understands NWC members and even top officials are at odds on how to reconfigure the provinces.

Veterans such as Jeff Radebe, Amos Masondo, as well as Hope Papo and Mike Mabuyakhulu, are some of the names the NWC wants to infuse into the PECs.
