CAPE TOWN - Hundreds of demonstrators who marched against budget cuts reached Parliament on Wednesday afternoon to hand over a memorandum of demands.

The list includes the scrapping of budget cuts and the improved service delivery.

They also demanded that Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana prioritise departments such as education, health, defence and justice, when he tables the national budget at 2 pm.

The prioritisation of essential government departments such as education, health, defence and the police, tops the list of demands highlighted in the memorandum which was to be handed over to Finance Ministry officials.

The demonstrators also wanted to know how the Government of National Unity (GNU) plans to tackle the country's high unemployment, service delivery, and gender-based violence among other things.

They demanded that Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana table a budget that would benefit the poor and working-class people.

They said they were tired of deteriorating living conditions in their areas.
