The city of Tshwane has activated its disaster operations centre to monitor the adverse weather conditions in Gauteng.
JOHANNESBURG - The city of Tshwane has activated its disaster operations centre to monitor the adverse weather conditions in Gauteng.
The SA Weather Service earlier issued an orange level 6 warning for disruptive rains and thunderstorms.
The provincial cooperative governance department says numerous roads in Centurion, Tshwane have been closed due to flooding.
The city was also affected by a tornado in Montana last night which caused damage on Sefako Makgatho Drive.
Tshwane emergency services said it will remain on alert for any incidents.
“All incidents resulting from the inclement weather, activate and deploy all resources that are needed for any incidents that may be reported by the community to the city disaster operations centre,” said the city’s emergency service spokesperson Lindsay Mnguni.
The weather conditions are expected to clear up on Saturday.
