JOHANNESBURG - Pretoria nightclub Zanzou has found itself on the wrong side of the law for failing to report crimes committed by its staff members.
The City of Tshwane wants the establishment to account for keeping silent, despite being aware of violence against patrons by security.

Earlier this week, multiple videos were widely circulated on social media, showing a group of young men being sexually and physically assaulted in a storeroom at the nightclub.
Although Zanzou claimed that it dismissed the bouncers behind the torture of patrons, Tshwane Health MMC Tshegofatso Mashabela said that was not enough.
"If a person has stolen your phone, you know what to do. You need to call law enforcement and subject them to the rules of this country. You don’t have to subject them to a bucket of hot water and all those incriminating videos that we have seen here."
Mashabela said there was evidently more to Zanzou than what meets the eye.
"We can safely say that it is a management issue that we are dealing with here. It’s no longer about the employees but the owners of this industry, [and] how they run and operate the affairs."
Mashabela also disclosed that the security company the bouncers were contracted to was not compliant with security regulations.
