CAPE TOWN - A year since six-year-old Joshlin Smith disappeared from her Middelpos home in Saldanha Bay, things have slowly returned to normal in the West Coast town.

Joshlin went missing after disappearing from her home on 19 February last year.

Her mother, Kelly Smith, and two co-accused now face charges of kidnapping and human trafficking related to the little girl's disappearance.

West Coast resident and founder of NPO Pay it Forward, Greg Clifton, has been actively involved in the search for Joshlin.

He said that while the search for Joshlin continued, life goes on in Saldanha Bay.

"I'd say that in the beginning there were far less children on the streets unaccompanied by adults but by and large as things go, things have kind of returned to normal."
