More structures are being erected to accommodate the remaining 86 flood victims.

Most of the temporary structures being erected in Riverlands are situated in an area that’s surrounded by thick bushes.

Wynona Makrige said the area was also very dark at night dark.

"It's very difficult, especially for my daughter who is in high school in Grade 11. She can't do her computer studies because there's no electricity."

Donovan Manuel said they also could do with water and toilets.

"Those are things we had before the floods came. My spouse has to go outside now to relieve herself and it's not nice."

The beneficiaries of the temporary structures, however, said they were happy to be getting new homes.
