CAPE TOWN - Residents of Wesbank are still reeling after a four-year-old boy was shot and killed over the weekend.

The little boy is among the youngest victims of gang violence on the Cape Flats.

It's reported that he was hit by stray bullets while he was in his home.

The police’s Anti-Gang Unit is investigating a case of murder.

Gang violence on the Cape Flats has again claimed the life of an innocent child.

The latest victim, a four-year-old boy from Wesbank, was in his home when he was hit in the back by two stray bullets.

It’s alleged that the bullets were fired by warring gang rivals.

Cape Flats Safety Forum spokesperson, Abie Isaacs, said that more must be done to combat gang violence.

"We call for a special probe into gun violence, specifically in and around the Cape Flats. We call on the president of the Republic of South Africa to deploy the South African defence force as a force multiplier to the law enforcement agencies."

He also called on residents of Wesbank to assist the police with their investigation.
