CAPE TOWN - Build One South Africa says the Government of National Unity (GNU)’s first budget must “fund for 5% growth, cut waste, and avoid any tax increases”.
It said South Africans must not be made to suffer more than they have with the high cost of living.
On Tuesday, BOSA deputy leader, Nobuntu Hlazo-Webster, told a briefing in parliament that Wednesday’s budget speech will be a big moment for the GNU and will allow people to determine with the GNU is “a breath of fresh air”.
She listed her party’s main priorities like growing the economy at a more aggressive pace than President Cyril Ramaphosa has stated in the State of the Nation Address (SONA).
“The first is that we must fund economic growth, and we must fund economic growth to reach at least 5% a year. Now we heard the president target 3% and that simply isn’t enough. What three percent is, is about survival.”
