JOHANNESBURG - The African National Congress (ANC) is set to give an update on changes to both the Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Executive Committees (PEC).
This follows Monday's National Working Committee (NWC) meeting – which decided that Hope Papo and Mike Mabuyakhulu must become coordinators for the party in both provinces.
The NWC also decided to enlist the help of Jeff Radebe who will share the role of convenor with Sboniso Duma in KZN and Amos Masondo, who will work alongside Panyaza Lesufi in Gauteng.
The two provinces have been largely blamed for the ANC's poor showing in the 2024 general elections.
ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula and his deputy Nomvula Mokonyane have been given the twin tasks of informing the PECs in both Gauteng and KZN of the way forward.

EWN understands understands meetings have already been set for this afternoon – to announce changes to the respective PECs.
In Gauteng, Papo will make a return to the secretariat while Mabuyakhulu, who served briefly as deputy chairperson in KZN, will now join the province as its coordinator.
NWC insiders said they are confident this is the right step towards reclaiming control of their organisation.
EWN also understands the meeting also discussed US President Donald Trump’s actions towards South Africa – along with AfriForum’s misinformation campaign.
The ANC is likely to hold a media briefing on these and other pertinent matters before the end of the week.
