LUSIKISIKI - The trial of the eight men accused of the Lusikisiki massacre is set to continue on Monday.

The men, facing 18 murder charges for the brutal killing of 16 women and two men last September, are expected to return to the Lusikisiki Regional Court.

The families of the Lusikisiki victims will on Monday get some clarity on how the murder case involving their loved ones will proceed.

This as the Lusikisiki Regional Court is expected to transfer the case to a high court for trial.

Late last year, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in the Eastern Cape said the matter would be set down for two weeks.

Spokesperson Luxolo Tyali: "The case is now set to resume because the State is ready to proceed with the trial as the investigations have now been finalised."

The accused also face another count of murder in relation to a separate case that took place at KwaBhaca.
