JOHANNESBURG - The City of Tshwane says it will be forced to implement level two water restrictions if residents don't limit their water consumption.

Under level two restrictions, residents will not be prohibited from using hosepipes to clean driveways, patios, and cars, and they will also not be allowed to fill their swimming pools.

This warning comes as the city grapples with water shortages due to an inability to meet demand.

Tshwane city spokesperson, Selby Bokaba, has urged residents to adhere to the restrictions.

"It has come to the city’s attention that the levels of reservoirs and towers that supply these areas are frequently dropping inordinately. This high volume of consumption is continuously putting the city’s distribution network and Rand Water systems under severe pressure."
