JOHANNESBURG - As South Africa prepares for the 2025 Budget Speech, business will be keenly watching for signals on economic growth, investment, and policy support.
Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana is expected to deliver the Budget Speech on Wednesday.
He's expected to set the tone for the country’s economic direction, including how government plans to improve the business environment.
Small and medium businesses in a tough spot hope Godongwana's speech will improve business confidence and boost investor appetite.

While Godongwana's job is not likely to be easy, Head of Coverage for Business Banking, Oscar Siziba said government needs to go big on support for small, medium, and micro enterprises (SMMEs).
"SMMEs will not only drive their own successes but also contribute to a more inclusive and prosperous South African economy and that’s really what our country needs this time around."
Siziba said small and medium businesses could also benefit from the slightly optimistic growth projections for the year.
"While the challenges remain, this signals a cautiously optimistic outlook, one that our SMMEs as the backbone of our economy, must be ready to leverage on."
