JOHANNESBURG - Gautrain has assured its passengers that it will increase buses for the Park and Rosebank stations affected by its service disruption.

This follows the cordoning off of the railway section between the two stations after it was discovered that soil and water were seeping into the tunnel.

It is understood that illegal drilling on private property above the tunnel is to blame, adversely affecting Gautrain’s operating systems.

Company spokesperson Albi Modise said investigations are underway to assess the situation, and customers will be notified of any progress.

“We appreciate our customer’s patience and understanding as we continue our investigations to identify the owners of the private property where the drilling is suspected to have occurred, as well as the remedial measures that will be implemented to enable the restoration of the full Gautrain services," said Modise.
