JOHANNESBURG - The ShePowHer menstrual cup manufacturer says its campaign is in line with the global sustainable development goals.

These are set to address barriers faced by adolescent girls and young women in accessing safe, dignified, and sustainable solutions.

In partnership with Baithudi Mampane Foundation and HerPath Network, the trio launched their menstrual health campaign on Friday in Johannesburg

Studies show that 1 in 10 girls in the global south miss school due to a lack of menstrual products

The campaign is set to provide sustainable menstrual health solutions.

Chairman of the Baithudi Mampane Foundation, Thapelo Mampane, says the menstrual cup does this by meeting seven of the sustainable development goals.

Thapelo Mampane said education is the cornerstone of their initiative.

"By integrating sexual education into our programme we equip adolescent girls and young women with vital knowledge about their bodies and reproductive health and rights. This education empowers them to make informed decisions, reduce vulnerability to HIV, addresses issues related to gender based violence," said Mampane.

Mampane added that the products are environmentally friendly and can last up to 10 years.
