CAPE TOWN - The DA in the Western Cape has called on police management to take a tougher stance against police officers found on the wrong side of the law.
This follows recent reports of rape allegations levelled against two police officers stationed at Morreesburg police station in the Western Cape.
The pair is being investigated by police watchdog the IPID - for allegedly kidnapping and raping a 27-year-old woman on a farm in the town last Saturday.
At least five policemen have been accused of rape in the province in recent months.
DA Western Cape Spokesperson on Police Oversight and Community Safety, Thomas Walters says the SAPS and IPID must address the committee on the steps being taken to address these critical issues...
"Incidents like these have no place in the SAPS and will not be tolerated. We will be expecting action from my committee side."
