CAPE TOWN - Two suspected lovebirds accused of running an illegal steroid manufacturing lab in Paarl will spend Valentine's Day in court answering for their alleged involvement in the matter.
They were arrested during a raid by the Hawks at their business premises in Zanwyk Industrial Park on Old Paarl Road on Thursday.
The pair, both 27 years old and believed to be romantically involved, are accused of illegally manufacturing steroids at the premises.
During the raid, powder, tablets, as well as machines and an oven used to illegally make steroids were discovered.
Hawks spokesperson, Siyabulela Vukubi, said both suspects would appear at the Paarl Magistrates Court on Friday.
"This stems from January 2023 when the Hawks received information about steroids that were couriered from Franschoek and distributed to local recipients.
"The parcels were intercepted and sent to the laboratory for testing of which the report came back positive. Two suspects were identified, and further investigation was conducted."
