JOHANNESBURG - Education activist Hendrick Makaneta is calling on the business community and government to create more mobile classrooms to increase access to education for more people in the country.

This follows the launch of the "travelling classroom" in Paarl, Western Cape earlier this week.

Makaneta said the initiative, the brainchild of independent wine producer DSG, would enable underprivileged people to have access to technology and literacy.

He emphasised that no child in the country should be left behind in receiving education because of their socioeconomic barrier.

"It is encouraging to see the private sector stepping up to support education. We need more partnerships like this to transform our schooling system and empower our future leaders."
