JOHANNESBURG - Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla's future in the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party has come under question after she failed to publicly apologise to the party's secretary-general, Floyd Shivambu, for insulting him.

Earlier this week, Zuma-Sambudla lashed out at Shivambu, calling him "useless" and using an expletive to express her frustrations.

She was later instructed to apologise to Shivambu and the organisation by her father and party leader, Jacob Zuma.

However, in her public apology, Zuma-Sambudla only apologised to the party and its structures but made no mention of Shivambu.

Zuma issued two directives to Zuma-Sambudla to preserve her membership in the political party.

The first directive was for her to apologise to the party Shivambu, while the second was to apologise to all the structures she serves in.

While she apologised to everyone, she is yet to apologise to Shivambu, the person her insults were directed towards.

Political analyst, Tessa Dooms, said that Zuma-Sambudla may have overestimated her influence in the party.

"It also says a lot that it must mean she doesn’t have the kind of support she imagines when she was emboldened."

The MK Party did warn that if Zuma-Sambudla failed to fulfil all the directives, she might risk losing her membership.
