CAPE TOWN - The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) said that its former MP and spokesperson, Mbuyiseni Ndlozi's public statements were as good as a formal resignation.
The party has also wished Ndlozi well for the future after he first resigned as an MP in January.
Ndlozi announced his resignation from the party in an interview with the SABC on Sunday night, where he also announced his departure from party politics.
Mbuyiseni Ndlozi finally broke his silence on his public fallout with EFF leader, Julius Malema, and the party.
Ndlozi's resignation follows a series of public attacks by Malema, who sidelined him from party activities.
The former party spin doctor, who was one of its most high-profile MPs, told the public broadcaster that he had left party politics and was pursuing a career outside the sector.
When asked to confirm Ndlozi's resignation spokesperson, Sinawo Thambo, said that "his public pronouncements constitute a resignation".
He added the party also wished Ndlozi well in whatever he decides to pursue after leaving party politics.
While some parties have reportedly reached out to and courted Ndlozi over the last few months, he said he would now be pursuing a career in academics, saying party politics were "not the monopoly" of making social change.
