KZN ANCYL elects new provincial leaders for the first time since 2017

DURBAN - The African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) in KwaZulu-Natal has elected new provincial leaders for the first time since 2017.

The league has previously failed on multiple occasions to have an elective conference with the latest attempt being in 2023.  

A new top five has been elected with its Provincial Executive Committee (PEC).

The election comes at a time when the party in the province faces reconfiguration by the party's National Executive Committee (NEC).  

After a four-day conference - the youth league in the ANC’s biggest province - KZN - now has new leaders.  

Ntokozo Ngcobo has been elected chairperson, Phindile Mdanda deputy chair, Lulama Mabude provincial secretary and Siyabonga Mzenda as deputy provincial secretary - the four positions were not contested.  

Sphelele Masuku will take up the position of treasurer with over 500 votes.  

“This is a very huge milestone we have seven to eight years without a structure at the provincial level because of a number of reasons, and today we were able to stage a successful congress," said newly elected chairperson Ntokozo Ngcobo.  

The ANC in the province has welcomed the outcomes of the conference.
