CAPE TOWN - The chairperson of the Archbishop Tutu IP Trust, Dr Mamphela Ramphele, said United States (US) President Donald Trump's plan for Gaza is similar to apartheid’s forced removals.
Ramphele described Trump's proposal to remove all Palestinians from Gaza and create a "Riviera of the Middle East" as grotesque.

She has also criticised the United Nations (UN) and the global community for not speaking out against Trump.
"I'm also pained by the feeble voice of the UN and the most powerful countries of the world in the face of this grotesque plan."
Ramphele said the reason the UN was set up after the Second World War was to make sure genocide does not happen again.
"This is painful for me because it reminds me so vividly of the pain that we, as Black South Africans, suffered in this country through forcible removal in the name of right-wing, racist ideologies."
Ramphele said if the US proceeds with its plan, backed by Israel, it will be a monument to inhumanity and hatred.
