AKA and Tibz murder trial: 5 accused to make High Court appearance in May

JOHANNESBURG - The five men who were arrested in connection with the murder of Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane will be making their first appearance in Durban High Court in May.
Hip-hop artist AKA and celebrity chef Tibz were shot and killed outside of a restaurant in Durban, in February 2023.
The suspects were served with an indictment today at the Durban Magistrates Court.
They have been charged with multiple accounts including conspiracy to commit murder and murder.
The KwaZulu-Natal National Prosecuting Authority (NPA)’s spokesperson, Natasha Ramkisson-Kara explained: “The five men arrested in connection with the murder of Kiernan Jarred Forbes (AKA) and Tebello Motsoane (Tibz), amongst other charges returned to the Durban Magistrates’ Court today. In February 2023, Forbes and Motsoane were shot and killed outside a restaurant on Florida Road, just outside the Durban CBD.
“Today [Friday] the State served an indictment on the accused (through their counsel), and the case was remanded to 08 May 2025 for the accused to make their first appearance in the Durban High Court.”
