Gauteng Education Dept probes bullying allegations at Sutherland High School

JOHANNESBURG - The Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) has launched an investigation into an alleged bullying incident at Sutherland High School.
This probe comes after a video went viral of a mother sharing her daughter's experience of bullying at school.
It is understood a male Grade 10 pupil had been bullying the girl for some time.

Gauteng Education spokesperson Steve Mabona said officials are providing both learners with psycho-social support.
"The Gauteng Department of Education has deployed its Psychosocial Support Unit to offer support to both learners and their parents in an effort to assist in managing the emotional and psychological impact of the incident. In addition, the department has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the handling of this complaint by the educator. Furthermore, the school will provide curriculum support to the affected learner following the incident."
