CAPE TOWN - The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has promised it won't disrupt 2025’s State of the Nation Address (SONA).

Ahead of Thursday’s speech, the red berets have promised to be on their best behaviour.

From the times of calling for former President Jacob Zuma to pay back the Nkandla money to wanting Ramaphosa to account for Phala Phala, the EFF has a history of disrupting SONA speeches.

However, EFF national spokesperson, Sinawo Tambo, said the days of its members being kicked, dragged, and pushed out of Parliament were over.

"We have declared since the 2024 elections that our approach is going to change when it comes to interacting with the SONA but also how we enact our accountability mechanisms. We are going to improve the quality of our submissions; we are going to ensure we read and listen carefully to what the President presents and point out the obvious fallacies and mistruths that are going to be presented."

In 2022, Parliament changed its joint sitting rules to prevent members from raising points of order or objections during a SONA speech.
