Anglican Archbishop Thabo Makgoba opened proceedings at St George’s Cathedral on Wednesday, urging churches to do more to help stop the war.
Favour Ange, a survivor of the previous conflict in the DRC, was also in attendance.
She said she believes as humans, there is a duty to help one another.
"There is a saying in Africa that says if the house of your neighbour is burning and you don’t take action, you must know tomorrow that it will come to you. So, I believe that the call for peace is very important and it's going to bring solutions - that is my hope."
